✧ lei loves all ocean life, but her favorites are whales (obviously), seals, walruses, manatees, and anything in the octopoteuthidae family.♕ lei is a listener but because her resting face is neutral, most assume she's off daydreaming when in reality; she is studying her surroundings very intently. she has heard many secrets, which is how she originally found out about arthur, queen atlanna's firstborn, and rightful ruler of Atlantis.✧ mermaids are omnivores, eating both meat and vegetation. some of her favorite foods include; sea cucumber, tuna, sea urchin, and eel. in a pinch, she will also resort to eating jellyfish.♕ atlantis is located in the northern part of the atlantic ocean, but lei has ventured farther than these borders. she has traveled near and far, in search of her mother, and search of the queen.✧♕

biography :
whalei vulko was born to nuidis vulko and esen scur, both members of the king's court. whalei's name means "belonging to the whale meadow", as a large pod of whales surrounded and protected esen as she was in labor with whalei.and so, whalei found herself a part of one of the largest blue whale pods near atlantis. the whales in this pod are very protective over her and are always responsive to her calls.whalei was raised mostly by her father, as esen disappeared shortly after queen atlanna was "killed". whalei was educated in the culture of atlantis, the wars they've fought, how their people survived, and also of the king that could save them. lei, as a child, believed that the king had yet to be born and that she would not see him in her lifetime.during the period of aquaman (2018), lei hid away, investing her time in trying to protect her pod (and surrounding ocean life), as outside forces started to attack atlantis.her distaste for humans is limited to their disrespect for ocean life, however! she has been known to attack those who come too close to Atlantis, her pod, or those that fish too often. with a strong memory, lei is well aware of how often fishermen and their boats visit the Atlantic, and if she sees you or your boat too many times, she WILL attack.whalei, despite her quiet and timid nature, also has a heart for pranks and general troublemaking. if she's comfortable around you, she will have no problem teasing you. this may mean spraying you with seawater, mocking your voice, tone, or mannerisms, or even playing dead. lei has also been known to sneak up on people and mimic the vibrations of a whale, both for fun and to intimidate potential predators.Click here to hear what a blue whale sounds like. these are also the noises that lei makes when she wishes to communicate with her pod. whale sounds are VERY loud, their calls reaching 180 decibels (about as loud as a jet plane). these vibrations (if they're near a whale) can be felt in a human's chest, head, and inner ear. and in the case of a sperm whale, to the point where it CAN kill you.
